Claireville

The waterfront home in Clareville in Sydney’s northern beaches, designed by Studio Gorman, underwent a meticulous building process that transformed a dated 1970s dwelling into a sleek and modern residence. The renovation began with a thorough assessment of the existing structure, identifying areas that could be retained and those that required replacement. Arthouse Projects and the designers worked closely with the clients to understand their needs and preferences. With a focus on sustainability, the team incorporated recycled materials and energy-efficient solutions wherever possible.

The construction process involved a series of careful and deliberate steps. The existing roof was removed, and a new one was installed, featuring a unique clerestory window that allows natural light to flood the interior spaces. The exterior walls were also updated, with new cladding and insulation added to improve the building’s thermal performance. Inside, the layout was reconfigured to create a more open and fluid living space, with a focus on clean lines, minimal ornamentation, and an emphasis on natural materials. The result is a sophisticated and modern home that not only meets the clients’ needs but also showcases Arthouse Project’s attention to detail and commitment to sustainable building principles.
