The Quarterdeck, Middle Cove

The Quarterdeck, a mid-century home of architectural significance, underwent a transformation with the Arthouse Projects team. The building process commenced with careful consideration of the existing dwelling’s architectural bones and unique site characteristics. To minimize environmental impact and honor the property’s heritage, the team adopted a thoughtful approach, incorporating reclaimed materials and sustainable practices.

The original 1950s architecture provided a foundation for the renovation, which emphasized retention of its characteristic charm. Key elements of the transformation included the introduction of robust, natural materials such as timber and stone, alongside expansive glazing and strategically positioned skylights. These elements seamlessly integrated modern luxury with the existing structure, maximizing ocean views and natural light. Precise attention to detail and craftsmanship ensured a flawless execution of Studio Gorman’s vision, resulting in a stunning contemporary haven that respectfully nods to its mid-century origins.
